Adult Sunday Discussion Group
Intersection: Faith and Life
Every Sunday following worship in the Reformation room
Format:
Sessions begin with sharing and discussion of how our Christian values have been used or challenged during the week through personal interaction, social media posts, and current events. We will discuss any topic that can be framed by Christian values.
The facilitator of the Sunday discussion group is Craig Alberty. You are welcome to contact him at 605.209.1831 or email him.
Christian Values:
An ongoing group project is to refine a list of values we have embraced through our Christian experience:
- Love
- Grace
- Honesty
- Discernment
- Faithfulness
- Acceptance
- Community
- Stewardship
The list is under continual expansion and revision.
Curriculum:
Following the opening sharing session, we examine the weekly Bible verses as prescribed in the ELCA lectionary for relevance to the intersection of Christian values and daily life. Occasionally, media such as articles and podcasts may be introduced as discussion material.
Resources:
We recently used this sermon by James Talarico as the basis for discussion of Christian nationalism:
